WDR DIN Rails Offer Efficiency Up To 92 Percent

Mean Well has introduced the WDR series of DIN rails featuring a single-phase wide input range, which is available from Ecopac Power. The WDR-120 series is a 120W AC/DC slim-line DIN rail power supply with efficiency up to 92 per cent. The WDR series is equipped with 180-550VAC single-phase wide input range, able to operate with single-phase 230VAC input or utilising one phase from the 330~550VAC three-phase power system, which increases the flexibility of the power supply.

With up-to-date circuit design, the WDR-120 series can provide 120W continuously up to 60C by only free air convection, or operate up to 70C ambient temperature with power de-rating. The design is 40mm wide, making it 30.58 per cent smaller in size compared with the DRH-120 series. With a wider input range, the WDR-120 also has six per cent higher efficiency than equivalent models.

Other standard functions include DC OK relay contact, power-on LED indicator, as well as protection for short-circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature conditions. The WDR-120 series complies with UL/CUL/CE safety standards and also meets the EMC requirements of heavy industrial immunity level (EN61000-6-2). Applications include industrial control system, semiconductor fabrication equipment, factory automation, electro-mechanical applications, and marine-related installations.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
