Super Air Knife Produces Laminar Sheet Of Airflow

Exair's new 1.37m (54in) Super Air Knife, available from Good Hand, produces a laminar sheet of airflow to blow off, dry or cool wide surfaces. Suitable for parts, webs and conveyors, the energy-efficient design minimises compressed-air use by entraining 40 parts room air to one part compressed air. At 5.5bar, the sound level is said to be very quiet at 77dBA.

The 1.37m Super Air Knife directs the compressed air across a precise machined surface, ensuring uniformity and low noise. The compact 45 x 37mm profile, along with inlets on each end and the bottom, facilitates mounting in tight spaces. The Super Air Knife is maintenance free and has no moving parts to wear out. Multiple units can be mounted end to end without dead spots. The Super Air Knife is available in various lengths, from 76mm to 1.372m.

It can be made of aluminium, which is suitable for most industrial applications, or stainless steel, which is commonly used in food, pharmaceutical and corrosive applications with temperatures up to +427C.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
