Spidex Launches Latest Mainsaver CMMS System

Spidex Software has announced the release in the UK and Ireland of Mainsaver 11.5, the latest version of its Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This newest version, available to Spidex-supported customers immediately, offers improvements in system security and flexibility as part of an overall catalogue of around 60 enhancements and bug-fixes. The new version of Mainsaver is fully compatible with the established suite of Spidex Web Maintenance modules and will operate on either Oracle (version 9 and 10) or SQL Server (2005 and 2008) databases.

It is also written in Powerbuilder 11.5, which brings the product fully in line with current versions of associated Sybase products, including Infomaker. Mainsaver version 11.5 will be shown as part of the Spidex User Conference on 20-21 May 2010.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
