Socomec To Exhibit At Health Informatics Event

Socomec has announced that it will be demonstrating products at the HC2010 exhibition in hall 3, stand 82, from 27-29 April 2010, at Birmingham's ICC. Socomec will display uninterruptible power supply systems at the event, including the TUV SUD-approved, 96 per cent efficient, reduced footprint Masterys Green Power 120kVA, along with the smaller version, Masterys Green Power extension 10-40kVA. Socomec will also show the Netys RT on stand 82, which can be used as a single-phase UPS unit for server rack specifications for IT professionals.

Positioning this device in a cabinet along with the Asys automatic transfer switch and the 19in rack version of Socomec's Statys static transfer switch will demonstrate what to expect from these products when on site in the data rack. Socomec is also launching its 800/900kVA Delphys MX as an extension to this range. The Maxi system is based on the technology and enhancements of the Delphys MX 500kVA, launched in 2005, and this larger unit is capable of a maximum system size of up to 5.4MVA.

The Delphys MX range is claimed to guarantee a true-online double conversion UPS system that protects the load from power-grid pollution or power failures. Sales managers will be on hand to answer any questions and will be available to set up future meetings. There will also be representatives from Socomec Switching and Protection for all switching and metering requirements. These reps will be available for questions and meetings on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 April.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
