Imec Launches Virtual Camera At NAB Show

Imec is to present Imec Virtual Camera (IVC) video technology for dynamic viewing and advanced image manipulation at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. IVC is said to turn the input from fixed cameras into a 3D space where the director or cameraperson has the freedom to choose any angle or distance to the action. According to Imec, IVC gives the director a flying camera that he or she can easily steer anywhere to find the ultimate angle.

IVC allows real-time advanced image manipulation on still shots, slow motion and even on live video feed. In addition, it can be integrated into any existing production pipeline. The video input comes from standard HD-IP cameras without compromising the quality of the output. As HD-IP cameras cost less that conventional outside broadcasting cameras, the production cost is reduced.

IVC is handled via a user-friendly remote control panel comparable with that of a regular boom camera or spider cam, enabling the director a straightforward manipulation of the Virtual Camera. Imec said the Virtual Camera opens up many new possibilities in sports, concerts or performance broadcasting.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
