Harting Connector Has Future-Proof Design

Harting's RJ Industrial 10G is an RJ45 connector that does not require any tools for connection and features a future-proof design that is compatible with 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications. The connection is made reliably and quickly using insulation displacement terminal technology. The insulation displacement terminals are designed for rigid and flexible conductors with a range of wire cross sections.

Cables with diameters from 4.5 to 9mm are securely fixed in place in the connector with a newly developed cable gland, allowing users to connect all standard Ethernet cable types with a single RJ45 connector design. Due to its compact design, the rugged, industry-standard IP 20 model is also suitable for multiport RJ 45 jacks. In addition to the IP 20 models, all of Harting's existing IP 65/67 Push-Pull types up to the Han 3A version are available with the RJ Industrial 10G insert.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
