Furnace Protects Operators From High Temperatures

Lucifer Furnaces has delivered the 3027GT, a high-temperature furnace for use with inert atmosphere, to a domestic manufacturer of firearms with ISO9001 certification. The 3027GT model, rated for operation up to 1510C (2750F), is equipped with silicon carbide rod-type heating elements mounted above and below the hearth providing uniform heat. Designed with continuously welded furnace shell, the roof plate and door are gasketed to form a gas-tight shell for operation with a positive flow of inert protective atmosphere.

The 12 x 12 x 12in chamber is ruggedly constructed, lined with firebrick and mineral wool block insulation. The silicon carbide plate mounted on ceramic piers provides a flat work surface supporting the work load while permitting thermal transfer from the floor elements. The furnace was supplied with Honeywell digital time proportioning temperature control, selector switches, and tapped power transformer for energy efficiency and longer heating element life.

A double-pivot horizontal swing plug door with gasket seals against the furnace faceplate reduces outside door temperature and keeps the hot face away from the operator at all times.
