E-Learning Tutorials Advise On Use Of 3D Mice

'I Get It', the engineering knowledge-management portal designed by Tata Technologies, has added two video-tutorial series on using 3Dconnexion Spacepilot Pro 3D mice in Solidworks and Catia. The new 'I Get It' courses are a helpful resource for professionals using 3Dconnexion 3D mice, offering insight on increased design power and productivity benefits.

Improved control and navigation allow design engineers to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate models or simulations without stopping to select commands. Customisable programmable buttons provide quick access to commonly used commands. They advance design performance by aiding in the detection of design flaws and enhancing design review, verification and presentation.

The 3Dconnexion 3D mice deliver a level of design interaction that is unattainable with a traditional mouse and keyboard. Using a 3D mouse, design engineers can design more intuitively and with precise control, allowing them to feel as though they are manipulating their digital models by holding them in their hand.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
