Audit Service Identifies Malfunctioning Gauges

The Winters Gauge Audit Program (GAP) identifies malfunctioning or misapplied gauges in plants so that corrective measures can be taken to reduce service interruptions and improve safety conditions. The GAP also increases gauge monitoring performance, helps the customer save on repairs and replacements costs and consolidates gauge inventory, according to the company.

The gauge audit is performed by qualified distributor personnel or together with a Winters regional manager at the plant site. The audit is conducted in three stages, culminating in a report that is shared with the plant lead contact person. The first stage of the GAP involves setting the project scope by making a list of known or suspected installation issues, while noting the requirements of the plant, such as normal operating pressures and temperatures. The next stage is the audit, where a walk-through of the plant or facility enables the recording of gauge types, tags, readings and failed inventories.

As this point, a review of gauge installations on site with plant personnel can be carried out if required. The last stage of the GAP is the report, where the distributor or Winters manager provides an evaluation of installed instrumentation, flags issues that require immediate attention, gives a demonstration on the proper use and maintenance of instrumentation and recommends replacement parts.
