The latest absolute shaft encoders from
IFM Electronic feature direct interface to the CANopen bus. There is a multiturn version, the RM7 series, alongside the singleturn RN7 series. The 13-bit singleturn and 25-bit multiturn units are on offer in a choice of housings with common 58mm-diameter encoder flange fittings. They are available with either a 6 or 10mm-diameter shaft, with double bearings for stability. Standardised CANopen device and application profiles simplify the integration of the encoder into a CANopen system.
The system provides communication compatibility, as well as interoperability and interchangeability of devices. In this case the encoders comply with profile DSP 406, class 1 and 2 for CANopen interface DS301. IFM also supplies all necessary accessories for fitting and connecting the encoders, flanges for mounting, flexible shaft couplings and measuring wheels.
