MAS Offers Advice And Support To Manufacturers

The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) offers advice and support to UK manufacturers to improve their productivity and competitiveness. A free and quick-query service offers answers to a wide range of technical issues by email or phone. A free manufacturing review for SME manufacturers allows experienced industrial practitioners to carry out a hands-on assessment and diagnostic of a business that will highlight areas of opportunity or action that can be taken to improve operational performance.

All initial advice relating to this is also free of charge. Training and networking events can help improve awareness and skills related to manufacturing issues and best practice. See the local regional MAS website for details of the events. MAS can provide up to 50 per cent to SMEs of the cost of an expert to help them improve their business, up to a value of GBP3,250. This support includes: help with developing new or more effective products or processes; innovation advice; identifying new markets and customers; reducing costs and improving efficiency; and introducing best practice.

For non-manufacturing queries, such as financial, human resources, marketing, legal or environmental issues, MAS works with Business Link and other organisations to ensure manufacturers have access to a full range of business support services.
