Q8 Oils Unveils Eco-Friendly Packaging System

Q8 Oils is launching the Q8 Oilqube, an environmentally friendly packaging system. The Q8 Oilqube is manufactured and filled at the company's Leeds blending plant, where a purpose-built, automated Q8 Oilqube filling machine is based. Aimed initially at the agricultural and plant machinery sectors, the 20L packaging has been developed as an alternative to the traditional plastic drum and is made up of two key components: a water-resistant, 98 per cent-recyclable cardboard box and an inner plastic bag, which produces 84 per cent less waste compared to a standard plastic drum.

For customers, this means a significant reduction in the disposal costs associated with plastic waste, as well as improved storage and stacking with the new box-shaped design, which is said to be critical where storage room is limited. Without the glugging of a traditional plastic drum, pouring is also said to be easier, with minimum spillage and waste.

The Q8 Oilqube will be shown for the first time at the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers Expo 2010 on 21-22 April at the Harrogate International Centre. It will be implemented as the new packaging style across a number of products in the Q8 Oils range, including: super universal tractor oil (Q8 T 1000 SUTO 10W-30); transmission oil (Q8 T 2000); engine oil (Q8 T 750 15W-40); and various hydraulic oils (Q8 Heller 32 and 46, Q8 Haydn 32 and 46 and Q8 Holbein 46).
