Meco Exhibits Seals For Dry-Bulk Process Equipment

Meco shaft seals for rotating dry-bulk process equipment will be exhibited at the International Powder and Bulk Solids Expo at PTXi in Rosemont, Illinois, USA on 4-6 May, 2010. New at PTXi this year is Meco's HB model seal for standard-sized screw conveyors and similar equipment. HB seals have many of the features used in Meco's custom shaft seals, but are in stock in five Cema and 11 metric shaft sizes - from 1-1/2 to 3-7/16in and from 40 to 90mm.

HB seals are designed to perform under 90 per cent of the typical operating conditions associated with screw conveyors or scrolls, even where waste pack housings, packed glands, lip seals or other seals fail. This includes food-grade applications, temperatures up to 500F (260C), abrasive products and vertical or inclined conveyor shafts. The HB accommodates up to 1/4in (6mm) of shaft run-out.

Capabilities of Meco custom-engineered shaft seals include: service in potentially explosive atmospheres; speeds to 1,000ft/min on dry-running shafts; holding vacuum in dryers, despite axial movement and thermal shaft growth; and sanitary seals that can be removed completely, sanitised and replaced, or for CIP systems.
