APD Connector Is Sealed To IP67/IP69K

ITT Interconnect Solutions has developed the APD, a cost-saving plastic connector that is said to eliminate the need to use board-to-board connectors. The APD direct PCB connector provides a direct interface into the 'box' but is connected to a PCB internally instead of using the standard crimped cable connection. Additionally, this connector requires no harnessing, which saves board space and results in reduced manufacturing costs.

ITT Interconnect Solutions said the APD connector is robust and lightweight and sealed to IP67/IP69K, providing protection against the effects of dust and temporary immersion. Combined with good resistance to oil, this connector is said to suit a range of industrial, transportation and military applications. Operating voltage is 48V maximum.

The APD connector is available in six-, seven-, 19-, 37- or 51-way versions, plus a four-way configuration for sensor applications. Machined contacts have a press-in contour and up to four colour and mechanical codings are available. It is compatible with selective wave solder processing.
