The NORD subsidiary in Austria celebrates its 25th anniversaryIn October 2010, the Austrian subsidiary of NORD DRIVESYSTEMS celebrated its 25th anniversary and can look back at quarter of a century of increasing success. The subsidiary in Linz has always occupied a special position within the NORD Group: It acts as a centre for a much larger region, and with its own subsidiaries it also coordinates activities in the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as a number of states in South-East Europe.

The special achievements of manager Heinz Scherleitner's team have provided textbook examples of the principle of customer-orientated support, right from the very start. Even in the early years, the head office in Bargteheide transferred responsibility to the Linz subsidiary for contacts with the important mechanical engineering fair MSV in Brno in the Czech Republic. This strategy of short distances rapidly reinforced the position of NORD Austria within the geographical catchment area of the fair.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
