IP-54” Sealed, Low Current, 12 VDC Gearmotor Develops 310 Lb. In. Torque at 2.5 RPM

Midwest Motion Products of Watertown, Minnesota, is pleased to announce the release of a new DC Gear Motor, the Model No. MMP-TM55-60-12V GP52-308. Accepting any 12 Volt DC source, including battery power, this robust Gear Motor measures just 2.14” in Diameter, by 7.75” long, and has a keyed output shaft of 12mm diameter by 25mm long. Easy mounting is accomplished with 4 “face mount” M5 threaded holes, equally spaced on a 40mm Dia. B.C.

The output of this reversible gearmotor is rated for 310 Lb. In. continuous torque, at 2.5 RPM, and 443 Lb. In. Peak. Despite its compact size, and weight of approximately 4 pounds, it’s an efficient design, requiring just 1.2 Amps at 12 Volts DC to generate its Full Load Torque. That translates into long life battery charge, very low noise operation, and lower costs for related drive electronics. Motor windings for 24, 28, 36, 48, 60 & 90 Volts are available. This unique design is rated at an “IP 54” protection level for operation in harsh environments. Variable Speed can be accomplished with our fully compatible Speed Controls, Model MMP 25A-12V, or MMP 20A-12V-RSP.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
