ITC Changes Dimensions For Sign Industry

The market leading provider of high quality cutting tools to the sign industry has launched its new 180-13 three flute end mill with metric dimensions. Now available from ITC, the new 180-13 solid carbide single ended cutter has been developed for routing hard materials in the sign making and wood cutting industries.

Historically known as industry sectors that work in imperial dimensions, the change to metric is often constrained by machines, collets, cutters and peripheral equipment. However, with more manufacturers working to metric drawings and dimensions as demanded by their customers, ITC has worked closely with its customers to develop the 180-13 Series of cutters in metric as well as imperial dimensions.

The 180-13 is now available in diameter ranges 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12mm with corresponding shank diameters. The length of cut ranges from 12mm on the 3mm diameter tool to 30mm on the 12mm diameter tool. The overall length of the series varies from 40 and 50mm for the 3 and 4mm diameter cutters to 76mm on the 12mm diameter tools. For customers with specialist applications demanding dimensions outside the standard range, ITC can accommodate requests on a rapid turnaround from its Tamworth based manufacturing plant.

The right hand cutting straight flute routing tool is an excellent option for machining hard materials where a high quality surface finish is required. The three flute design delivers more strength than two flute cutters and it is this attribute that minimises vibration and chatter to deliver a surface finish unrivalled by competitor cutting tools. To maximise the potential of this extremely productive series of tools, a rigid and robust machine and workholding set-up must be adhered to.
