Powersolve Expands Traco TMT Power Supply Range

Powersolve has announced extensions to the Traco TMT Series of encapsulated power modules with models from 10W to 50W. These fully encapsulated modules are available for PCB mounting with solder pins or chassis mounting with terminal blocks and optional DIN rail mounting clips. The TMT models measure 50.8mm x 33mm x 21.6mm for the 10W models and 89mm x 64mm x 32mm for the 50W models.

The entire TMT Series consists of 46 different models with four different power ranges of 10/15/30/50W and one to three outputs ranging from 3.3V to 48V DC. All models feature universal AC input (85 to 264V AC), -25C to +60C full load operating temperature range, high reliability with an MTBF in excess of 250,000 hours and a three-year product warranty.

These modules have safety class II approvals to UL 508, 60950-1 and 60601-1 and are suitable for use in a wide range of applications in commercial, industrial and medical environments.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
