Exxonmobil Selects AP Nitrogen Recovery Unit

Air Products (AP) has announced that it will provide its nitrogen recovery unit (NRU) and cryogenic gas processing equipment for an Exxonmobil project in Hawkins, Texas. The NRU plant will be operated by Exxonmobil and will process approximately 140 million standard cubic feet per day of gas.

The unit will recover natural gas for pipeline sale and produce nitrogen for re-injection into the reservoir to enable enhanced oil and gas recovery. AP will deliver the NRU plant equipment in late 2010, with operations at Hawkins targeted to commence in late 2011.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
