Abssac Machines Spring From Solid Material

Abssac has demonstrated its ability to machine a spring from a solid piece of material, supplying a pancake-shaped compression spring 50mm in diameter and 5mm in height. The spring is used to hold a bonded, ultra-thin reflective mirror on its top surface, in a high-wattage industrial laser machining application.

High-strength aluminum material was used because of its heat-transfer characteristics and low cost. By incorporating the flexible element into the one-piece design allows the easy alteration of the mirror's angle of incidence, while maintaining its position, rigidity and focus.
