Capital Investments Support Business Growth Ref: HEP\435

HepcoMotion® confirms that its linear motion business is positively booming. The first trading quarter of 2011 was the company’s best ever, growth that has now prompted over £1.5m investment in capital equipment to absorb increased demand.

Both its Braintree and Tiverton manufacturing sites are set to benefit from enhanced production. The Essex factory is home to Braintree Precision Components (BPC) the Hepco Group company whose manufacture of journals and rings will be supported by increased turning capacity. Additional boring and grinding machines will also be commissioned in the coming months.

The HepcoMotion® Sealed Belt Drive (SBD) has been the subject of considerable development and accounts for a substantial share in overall sales growth. It is ideal for applications involving high loads and demanding duty cycles, providing an exceptionally clean and reliable linear solution.

To support elements of SBD production and the manufacture of other small components, HepcoMotion® is substantially increasing milling capacity at its principle factory in Devon. This will come into immediate effect but will be complemented by the purchase of several new machines including a £.25m Hurco machining centre which is due to be operational in September.

The main role of this machine will be the manufacture of 1 – 3m parts, rings up to 2m in diameter and ring segments, a field in which HepcoMotion® has considerable expertise. An additional £350,000 is also being invested in turning capacity for rings up to 1200mm in diameter, increasing available capacity by an impressive 75%.

Towards the end of the year further upgrades and purchases are planned, in particular investment in vee profile grinding capacity, both to meet current demand and in anticipation of further growth.
