Fibreco will Join Gigacom Interconnect AB

Bel Fuse Inc.  has completed acquisition of Fibreco Limited, Great Dunmow, England.

Fibreco will join Gigacom Interconnect AB, which was acquired in March 2012, as part of Cinch Connectors business.

Fibreco is a specialist designer and manufacturer of fiber optic connectors and cable assemblies for aerospace, defence and Industrial harsh and hazardous environments.

Fibreco’s multichannel hermaphroditic connectors, which include a full tactical range of Mil-83526 connectors, legacy F900 & F960 (market compatible) and custom design products, utilise the Fibreco expanded beam technologies. Fibreco products will also now be available with Cinch Gigacom Interconnect EBOSA contacts, to provide unrivalled market leading optical performance and flexibility across a broad spectrum of markets and optical applications.

With over 100 years of fiber optic connector development experience in its engineering team, Fibreco along with the recently acquired Gigacom Interconnect, will form Cinch’s core fiber optic development and production division. Both coupled with the strength in connector design of Cinch, our fiber optics offering into the Aerospace, Defence and Industrial harsh and hazardous environments will see rapid development of  new fiber optic product offerings.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
