Spring Applied Brakes for Servo & Stepper Motors

Servo2Go.com announces the release of the FSBR series of Reverse Mounted Spring Applied Brakes from Inertia Dynamics of New Hartford, CT, designed to conquer the most demanding of brake applications.

Inertia Dynamics type FSBR brakes are designed for applications requiring minimum space (short axial length) or on motors with short shaft extensions. When mounted, the armature hub is installed on the shaft first, then the brake is installed over the hub and attached to the motor.

The FSBR brakes are rated up to 100 Lb-in static torque, and fit motors up to 5.3" OD.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
