Roving Networks Releases New Interconnect Communication Product Line

Roving Networks expands its product portfolio with a new product line of USB to serial cables and adapters. Built upon the industry de facto standard Prolific and FTDI chipsets, these cables complement Roving’s other data communications portfolio which includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products that are used in embedded and M2M communications.

Roving Networks’ USB cables improve upon currently available TTL cables in the market with 1.8 metre (6 ft) premium, strain relief and shielded cabling with black or clear over molded connectors and LED TX/RX indicators. Cables and adapters are available with both the 3V or 5V FTDI 32bit chipsets, or Prolific 64bit 3V chipsets. The products, based on the Prolific chipset, give engineers direct access to GPIO function and LEDs control.

Mitch Dale, V.P. Business Development at Roving Networks, explained, “We are finding that many of our customers require cabled as well as wireless connectivity in their products. Our new line of low cost, high quality USB to serial products is complementary in a wide variety of industrial markets.”

Cables and adapters are immediately available through Roving’s extensive distribution network. Pricing starts at $19.25 for cables and $16.25 for adapters. For volume customers, Roving also offers custom built cables available with a choice of chip, voltage, length, and connector termination. Contact Roving directly for details on custom cable configurations.
