TME Offers MLCC Capacitors and More from Kemet

TME has announced that it is the distributor of products from Kemet, which specialises in manufacturing capacitors designed for through-hole and surface mounting. Apart from monolithic and tantalum capacitors, TME's offering includes low-profile SMD capacitors manufactured using multilayer ceramic capacitor technology (MLCC). The devices are available in two groups of tolerance on capacity - five per cent (the C0G dielectric) and 10 per cent (the X7R dielectric) - and in three sizes - 0603, 0805 and 1206.

Their rated voltages are 10V, 16V, 25V and 50V with operating temperature ranges of -55C to +125C. TME said the MLCC capacitors are superior to tantalum capacitors in many applications as they ensure a wider frequency band, lower impedance, lower series resistance ESR (equivalent series resistance) and lower series inductance ESL (equivalent series inductance). The range of monolithic capacitors includes devices with rated voltage of 50V, 100V and 200V. Capacitors with the C0G dielectric have five per cent tolerance on capacity and the versions with the X7R dielectric have 10 per cent tolerance.

In both cases, the temperature operating range is -55C to +125C. The capacitors' terminals are spaced in imperial pitch 2.54mm or 5.08mm. The tantalum capacitors from Kemet, also offered by TME, have terminals pitch equal to 2.54mm. Capacitances of the devices are compatible with the EIA ranges for 20 per cent tolerance and their rated voltages are 6.3V, 16V, 25V and 35V. The series resistance ESR changes depending on the capacitor's capacity and rated voltage.
