Kabelschlepp and Tsubaki Enhance Uniflex Chain

Following a year of collaboration between Kabelschlepp and the Tsubaki Group, products such as the Uniflex Advanced plastic chain series have been extended and optimised. The Type 1665 with an inside height of 44mm is now available in an additional inside width of 200mm. There are now eight widths in total, covering measurements from 50mm to 250mm. The Type 1320 has also expanded; an inside width of 50mm is now available, as well as models with new bending radii of 38mm and 48mm.

The weight-optimised cable carriers in this series are suitable for a range of applications. They are equipped with internal sound dampening for an especially quiet run and offer possibilities for interior partitioning. An aluminium tray system is now available for the Type 1555 for vertical, hanging applications. Among its many applications, it is suitable for use in fast-moving storage and retrieval machines with high lateral acceleration and is available as a complete system, ready for installation and connection, including carrier stop, cables and tension relief.

The modular construction makes it straightforward to install. Standardised dimensions and basic components result in short delivery times and custom modification for low-cost solutions. For applications with a large angle of rotation, a rotating cable carrier system with an angle of rotation of 580deg or higher has been developed. This is made possible through the serial connection of multiple rotation chains. The uncomplicated mechanical design is intended to ensure a high level of reliability. The compact design enables its use in tight installation conditions.

Following collaboration between the two companies, the Mono 0200 plastic cable carrier has been redesigned; its interior has been optimised through the elimination of interfering edges. As a result, the routed cables are guided even more gently. All eight types of the Mono series are available in different designs and are normally kept in stock. In terms of the material, the clean-room-compatible, low-vibration TKR cable carrier has been further developed. A low-friction chain material ensures reduced wear of the guided cables, which is especially important at high speeds.

A long service life of the cables and the system means reduced costs. The chain satisfies the requirements Clean Room Class 1 in accordance with ISO 14644-1. A new separating strip system is now offered for the Type TKR 0200; it guarantees an optimal separation of the cables. In addition, the Type 0260 and Type 280 with interior heights of 40mm and 52mm are available with three new widths. In addition to inner widths of 75mm, 100mm and 150mm Kabelschlepp now also offers Bi 50mm, 125mm and 200mm. As a result, an even wider range of applications can now be covered.

The aspect of service live was also an area of emphasis for the new accessories for 3D cable carriers of the Robotrax series. Kabelschlepp is now offering a guide holder through which the cable carrier slides while it is reliably held in position - without limiting the freedom of movement of high-performance industrial robots. The rapid movements of the robot arm can cause the chain to knock against the robot housing. This may result in defects for both the cable carrier and the cables that are routed in it. This is now prevented by a retaining mechanism introduced this past year for Robotrax systems. The cable carrier is safely guided and stored in the retaining mechanism; the service life of the cable carrier and the cables can be quadrupled as a result. This, in turn, provides the benefit of longer operating times and reduces expensive downtimes for repairs.

The new LS 1050 double-link chains from the Steel Line and the MC 1300 hybrid chain carrier are also designed to provide an especially long service life. With a maximum degree of stability, the steel chain with the double-link design can achieve up to 40 per cent longer self-supporting lengths and the hybrid chain can achieve up to 30 per cent longer self-supporting lengths in comparison with the respective standard versions. Depending on the chain, additional loads of up to 130kg/m are possible. The LS 1050 also offers high speeds of travel with a high dynamic load, whereas the MC 1300 is known for its torsional stiffness and lateral stability.
