Fanuc Robot Key to Food-Packaging System

Increased flexibility for shelf-ready packaging lines is being offered by food-packaging automation specialist Abar with its new LR-80TCR Loading System. A Fanuc Robotics M10-iA robot is the core automation component of the LR-80TCR, allowing loading speeds of thermo-formed or top-sealed rigid trays at speeds of up to 200ppm. Each new LR-80TCR Loading System comprises retail pack in-feed conveyors, a case erecting system for Regular Slotted Containers (RSC), an LR-80 robot case loader and a case closer.

Designed to comfortably operate 24/7 duty cycles, the Fanuc Robotics M10-iA has proven reliability with low maintenance being a key feature of its design. The system has been designed with future use in mind, allowing upgradeability for plastic returnable supermarket crates or other containers. The Fanuc robot has a small footprint in comparison to conventional mechanical case loader/packers, making the system suitable for applications where space is restricted. With a choice of case-erecting options available and the ability to pack a range of case formats with instant or minimal change times, the system offers users a high degree of flexibility.
