Fastener Products for Mainstream Industrial Use

A selection of fastener products will be on show at the Fastening and Assembly Solutions and Technology (FAST) and Industrial Adhesives, Sealants and Encapsulants (IASE) events on 12 May. The products, suitable for mainstream industrial use, will include press joining and clinching, hardware, plastic fasteners, threaded fasteners and inserts, metal and plastic rivets and riveting machinery. Visiting manufacturing engineers or buyers keen to explore chemical bonding options can explore the latest options with specialists in structural adhesives; thread-locking adhesives; hot-melt adhesives; cyanaocrylates; anaerobics; water-based, conductive and polyurethane adhesives; and many types of adhesive tape.

In particular, the FAST exhibition will feature the latest developments, application practices and products now available in mechanical fastening, while the IASE exhibition will feature innovations in chemical bonding. The shows will be held at the Haynes Motor Museum near Yeovil from 9:00 until 15:00. The first 250 visitors to pre-register for the event will get a free Haynes Museum pass (otherwise charged at GBP8.95 for adult entry). Entry to both exhibitions is free, as is parking at the museum.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
