Aquaflow Supplies Gate Valves for Pumping Station

Aquaflow, a division of T-T Pumps, has supplied three DN600 gate valves to replace heavily corroded DN600 wedge gate valves at Belle Greve pumping station. The pumping station is undergoing an upgrade to prolong its lifespan. Aquaflow was approached by the principal contractor, working on behalf of Guernsey Water, because three DN600 wedge gate valves that had been supplied a few years ago by a framework manufacture had heavily corroded due to being in a saltwater environment.

The valves play an important role in controlling the flow and it was therefore vital that they were put right as soon as possible. Following discussions between Aquaflow and the contractor to ascertain hydraulic parameters and installation characteristics, a solution was proposed. Aquaflow secured an order to supply three replacement DN600 gate valves that would withstand the challenging conditions.

The company upgraded the seat and spindle-nut material to aluminium bronze and spindle in super-duplex stainless steel. The ductile iron bodied valves were triple coated in a marine-grade, two-pack resin to greater than 800 microns.
