Data Converters Target Communications Applications

Analog Devices has launched the AD9434 and AD9230 data converters, designed to deliver speed and performance at low power for communications infrastructure, radar systems and data acquisition systems. The data converters are suitable for communications and industrial applications, including test and measurement. The AD9434 is a low-power, 12-bit, 500mega-samples/sec A/D converter that reduces thermal considerations by consuming 660mW of power in a space-saving 8 x 8mm LFCSP package.

With 65dBFS signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) up to a 250MHz input frequency at 500 mega-samples/sec, the AD9434 A/D converter meets requirements for low power, small size and high dynamic range. The AD9434 A/D converter is also pin-compatible with Analog Device's AD9230 12-bit, 250mega-samples/sec A/D converter to allow for easy substitution with minimal design changes in many applications. The AD9434 is said to provide a complete signal conversion solution with sample-and-hold voltage reference, LVDS outputs, a single 1.8V supply and integrated data clock output with programmable clock included on the component.

The LVDS digital output data and output-clock timing interface are programmable to provide flexibility with field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products.
