TME Offers Hope Wireless Communications Modules

TME is able to supply a range of wireless communications modules covering ISM bands, including transmitters, receivers and transceivers, from Hope Microelectronics. The company offers transmitters, receivers and transceivers for bands 433 and 868MHz. They provide long-distance communication - up to 300m for the 433MHz version and about 200m for the 868MHz version - at a transmission rate of 1.2kb/sec and a bandwidth of 134kHz.

This distance can be extended (to about 3,000m) with the use of transceivers with increased output power of transmission channel (RFM12BP/xxx series). The transmission parameters are set by an external control system (for example, microcontrollers). In favourable environment conditions, the modules can achieve transmission speeds of up to 115.2kb/sec, and by the application of an external filter this speed can be increased up to 256kb/sec. The modules are available in two versions - DIP and SMD - and are ready for use following installation with no tuning required.

Their small dimensions (about 16 x 16 x 2mm for transmitters and receivers, 40 x 20 x 4mm for increased power transceivers) the modules can be easily applied in customers' constructions. Data exchange with a wireless module is carried out over the SPI interface, which is available in the majority of commonly used microcontrollers. Power supply of the modules is adapted to currently applicable standards (from 2.2V to 3.8V). The modules are characterised by low current consumption and the possibility to switch to standby mode when the transmission is off.
