Embedded IPCs for Space-Limited Applications

Nematron's Smart Series embedded IPCs feature rugged, compact structures and are suitable for industrial automation, telecommunications and mobile applications. The IPCs incorporate a fanless design that reduces power consumption and noise through the absence of forced cooling. The compact structure is designed to meet space-challenging applications and can be adapted to different installation requirements.

A high-vibration specification further increases suitability for harsh operating environments and the 9001 Core 2 Duo Model will operate in ambient temperatures of up to 60C. According to the company, the Smart Series is representative of second-generation fanless industrial processing platforms with the capacity to handle the chassis cooling requirements for a range of processors. The Smart 9002 supports the Intel Atom N270, while the 9001 model with a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo central processing unit delivers higher processing capacity for more demanding applications.

Both models offer a variety of I/O configurations including up to six USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232 ports, VGA and DVI video outputs, up to two 1Gbit Ethernet ports and a PCI expansion slot. The Smart Series can be equipped with a SATA hard disk drive and/or solid-state storage media or it can be accessed via Compact Flash from the front panel. The compact chassis design measures just 264 x 96 x 225mm. Nematron claims that the Smart Series offers excellent performance, scalability and network interoperability.
