Rotary Cable-Carrying System for Machine Tools

Igus has introduced Twisterband, a cable-carrying system that allows for rotations of up to 3,000 degrees and is suitable for use with machines that have rotary motions. Machine tool applications require a number of different services including electricity, oil and pneumatics in order to run. These services are delivered to the machine tool via cables or hoses - all of which require protection and guidance to avoid damage and subsequent machine failure.

This is straightforward when the cables run in a linear motion, but some machines have rotary motions that render typical linear cable carrying systems insufficient. For these applications, Igus developed its special-purpose rotary cable-carrying system Twisterband. Twisterband allows for rotations of up to 3,000deg, +/-1500deg and can reach speeds of up to 380deg/s. Like all Igus E-Chain systems, it is modular, lightweight and designed to be easy to install and fill.
