Rapid Offers IC Evaluation and Development Tools

Rapid Electronics has launched a range of evaluation tools and development platforms for ST and Fastrax ICs, designed to help customers to test and trial new microcontroller systems. The company has launched a mini evaluation kit and application board for the Fastrax range of GPS receiver modules. Powered by USB, the compact PCB provides user-friendly PC evaluation and testing of the iTrax03, iTrax100, iTrax300, and uPatch families of GPS module. Connectivity to the application board is provided by a 40-pin socket.

The application board is also equipped with an MCX antenna connector for the external active antenna. The application board is based on the Fastrax UP501 GPS receiver module with embedded GPS antenna, enabling high-performance navigation in stringent applications and solid fix in harsh GPS visibility environments. Evaluation kits and evaluation boards for ST microcontroller systems are also available. The STM8S-Discovery is a quick-start evaluation board highlighting the features of the STM8 microcontroller, and facilitates the development and sharing of custom-made applications.

The kit is based around a STM8S105 microcontroller and includes an embedded debugger, ST-Link and a touch-sensing button. The STM23-Discovery evaluation kit delivers similar testing functionality on the STM32 range of microcontrollers. Everything required for beginners and experienced users to get up and running quickly is included, including an STM32F100 microcontroller in a 64-pin LQFP and an in-circuit ST-Link debugger/programmer. Rapid also stocks the STM32 access and performance line 32-bit MCUs.
