Pneumatic Cylinder Users Can Repair Faulty Units

Companies using pneumatic cylinders from 'famous-name' manufacturers can now repair, rather than replace, faulty units, due to Thorite's Cylinder Seal Kit Overhaul and Repair Service. Companies include Norgren, SMC, Festo, Camozzi, Bosch Rexroth and Parker. Thorite will collect leaking cylinders, refurbish and return them ready for refitment within 10 working days, with all work covered by a three-month warranty.

The service, based on standard ISO/VDMA cylinders, starts from slightly more than GBP100 for a 32O unit and increases in small increments as bore sizes become greater. A new service for hydraulic and rodless pneumatic cylinders is also available and for these units Thorite engineers individually assess each cylinder and provide an estimate for each repair.

Sample costs involved in recent refurbishments include a Parker tie-rod cylinder of 100 bore x 100 stroke collected, repaired, re-sealed, tested and returned for GBP140; or a Bosch Rexroth tie-rod cylinder of 100 bore x 300 stroke collected, fitted with a new piston rod, repaired, re-sealed, tested and returned for GBP260.
