Parker Racor Launches Environmental Initiative
The Racor Filter Division Europe of Parker Hannifin has begun a recycling scheme in partnership with the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP). According to the company, the new initiative will see it reduce its waste to landfill by at least 75 per cent. News of this latest development comes at the same time as Parker Racor winning the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Award 2010.
As part of the environmental initiative, the company will be working to improve resource efficiency and sustainability, which will enable it to save 40 tonnes of virgin material, as well as cutting CO2 emissions by 103 tonnes. As a RoSPA Gold Award winner, Parker Racor had to demonstrate high levels of health and safety standards combined with good risk control to eliminate errors, harm or loss. The company said that environmental, health, safety and energy (EHSE) performance is measured through various methods, with two key metrics: energy use per unit of sales and employee injury rate.
