Multihead Weigher Reduces Product Give-Away

Cabinplant has introduced a new feature to its multihead weigher offering that enables higher weighing accuracy and a reduction of give-away for large products in 'few piece' portions. In order to minimise the number of duplets, triplets and zeroes (empty fillings), sensor gates were mounted on each assembling pan, enabling feedback on product filling in each pan. Tests with customers' products - for example, chicken fillets - were carried out.

The frequency of only one fillet being fed in each pan was much higher due to the sensor gates (feedback on product filling) as well as the improvement of the product flow and the reduced product layer on the top cone. Combined with the minimised number of duplets and triplets and the now insignificant number of zeroes, the result was higher weighing accuracy and reduced give-away. The latest tests of this patent-pending feature show a give-away reduction of three per cent compared with other multihead weighers, according to Cabinplant.
