Compact Oven Sample Changer for KF Titrations

Metrohm has announced that its 885 compact oven sample changer has won the Reader's Choice award in the moisture and particle analyser category of the 'Laboratory Equipment' magazine awards. The KF oven is said to make Karl Fischer titrations easy and is suitable for any sample the user wants to analyse for water content - from low parts-per-million to 100 per cent. The company's technology for analysing moisture content via the KF oven technique uses headspace vials as the oven chamber, eliminating the need for messy tube ovens or drying balances.

The small-footprint 885 oven sample changer's rack can be filled with 18 samples, standards and quality control check samples. It can be operated with all standalone KF titrators, whether the user performs coulometric or volumetric KF titrations. A user-friendly keypad controls the 885 compact oven sample changer; the user simply needs to input the number of samples, the oven temperature and the gas flow.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
