VARISTAR Cabinet Platform - Individual Configuration for Seismic Cabinets

Demanding global infrastructures demand a product that can be deployed worldwide. This product must be sufficiently robust for use in earthquake-prone regions and capable of withstanding dynamic loads such as occur in mobile applications on land, at sea or in the air. The seismic cabinets from Schroff's VARISTAR cabinet platform meet these requirements. Still further protection can be obtained by adding optional shock absorbers. And now it is possible to configure these earthquake-resistant cabinet versions individually in 24 different frame dimensions from 24 to 47 U via ServicePLUS. Cabinets are ready for delivery in 10 working days, from a quantity of 1.

Seismic tests carried out to IEC 61 587-2 and NEBS attest the earthquake resistance of the platform with reinforced frame up to Bellcore Zone 4. Cabinets with dimensions 2000 x 600 x 600 mm and 2000 x 600 x 800 mm (H x W x D) with a payload of 250 kg were used for the test.

The VARISTAR platform also offers a variety of cladding parts and an extensive range of expansion and accessory components. The appropriate cabinet for a given requirement is built up from these parts. The 45° bevels of the frame profile form the basis of the gasketing concept for EMC and IP protection. Heavy-duty accessories such as extra-robust shelves, slide rails etc are available where particularly heavy assemblies are to be accommodated.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
