Solenoid Interlock for Ex Zones 1 and 21
Certified for use in Ex zones 1 and 2 (gas Ex), as well as 21 and 22 (dust Ex), the solenoid interlock Ex STM 295 ensures machine and occupational safety in highly sensitive areas. Its compact design permits “discreet” mounting and its robust construction guarantees a long lifespan.
The developers based this interlock on the tried and tested switch inserts from the Ex 95 series, housed in a thermoplastic enclosure reinforced with fibreglass. An electro-mechanical locking system keeps the protective door closed. The switching elements, each with 1 opening and 1 closing contact, facilitate flexible activation. In addition, users can choose between a version using the power-to-lock principle or one using the principle favoured by professional health and safety organisations, namely spring-to-lock principle.
Despite its compact design, the solenoid interlock is very robust. The enclosure is carefully encapsulated so that the safety device can also be used in extreme applications, for example in very dirty environments.
With these features, coupled with its certification for Ex zones 1 and 2 (gas Ex) as well as 21 and 22 (dust Ex) the Ex STM 295 can be used universally in explosive areas. In combination with the safety relay module it can be integrated in safety circuits up to performance level e in accordance with EN ISO 13849 and SIL3 in accordance with EN 61508, ensuring a high degree of occupational safety in extreme and safety-sensitive environments.
