Low Phase Noise Frequency Standard OCXO

Targeted at h.f. communication equipment, system synchronisation and precision reference applications, a new series of OCXO is now available from TFC. The OS364-13 series offers a new 1.5" square package of OCXO with an SMA connector.

This OS365-13 OCXO can be used as a low phase noise frequency standard with a typical phase noise value of 115dBc/Hz at 10Hz. It is hermetically sealed and is available with a Sine wave output 0dBm into 50Ω, with harmonics at -25dBc.

TFC Marketing Manager, Craig Wells said "This is our smallest oscillator with an SMA connector and is already proving to be very popular. Custom designs are available on request with a high stability starting from +/-0.02ppm over an extended temperature range of -40+85degC."

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
