Low-Cost Industrial Accelerometers for Machine Monitoring
Measurement Specialties, Inc. (NASDAQ: MEAS) has just released its Model 8032-01 accelerometer to production. Specifically designed for machine monitoring applications, this rugged, low-cost device features a stainless steel housing and an integral cable with molded strain relief.
The case-isolated, internally shielded 8032-01 is easily stud mounted and offers reverse wiring protection to prevent installation errors. Its ingress protection rating of IP67 encourages use in harsh environments as does its stable response over an operating temperature range of -55°C to +100°C. Performance has not been sacrificed in the search for lower cost. This device is available in a ±50 or ±500g configuration, features shock limits of 5000 ±g, non-linearity of ±1%, low warm up time <2 seconds and frequency response to 12kHz.
This IEPE device uses a ceramic sensing element in compression mode and is shipped with an NIST traceable amplitude calibration at 100 Hz. The unit is designed for standard 2-10mA current excitation with a compliance voltage of 18-30Vdc. The industry-standard #22 AWG leads are insulated with Teflon while the flexible cable jacket is TPE. All this, plus optional mounting studs, application support and special calibration alternatives make this unit a breeze to install and maintain.
