HyCLEAN Gearmotors

The requirements of hygiene/sanitization and resistance to moist and corrosive environments, subject to frequent washdowns, are continuously growing. The standards referring to all food, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, imply severe washing and sanitization processes. In order not to affect the action of cleansing and sanitizing agents, design and coating of machines present in such applications must be as smooth as possible and ensure the maximum cleanability through water jets.

HyCLEAN (Hygienic-Clean) answers to these requirements adopting gearmotors equipped with highly protected surface coat featuring a resistance and adhesion-free characteristics higher than the ones obtained through the usual painting cycles.

Rossi has studied new important solutions (concerning materials, treatments and machining) for motor and gear reducer surfaces and components, introducing 2 protection packages offering an outstanding resistance to chemical-mechanical action typical of washing plants in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
Rossi HyCLEAN Guard and Rossi HyCLEAN Shield, the first for severe application conditions, the second for extreme conditions, are an alternative respectively to multi-layer paints and to stainless steel in high corrosion environments.

Corrosion, dipping tests have been executed, using the most common cleansing and sanitizing agents on the industrial cleaning market (Henkel-Ecolab and other leader manufacturers). A particular attention has been paid to the food industry, being the most rigorous application sector requiring frequent rinsing cycles.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
