Ex-Position Switchgear for Extreme Ambient Conditions

With the Ex ES 98 series, steute is proud to present a brand new generation of norm position switchgear in accordance with DIN EN 50041 for explosive environments. The products from this series come in a robust metal enclosure and in the future will be suitable for use in zones 1 and 2 (gas Ex) as well as 21 and 22 (dust Ex); a self-sufficient “Wireless Ex” version is also available. Users can choose from a large selection of actuators, and the range of switch inserts includes a new, flame-proof enclosure variant with three contacts, designed as a positive break snap action contact.

Additional features of the Ex ES 98 series are high protection classes (IP 66 to IP 69K) and an extended temperature range from -55°C up to +100°C. In addition, the devices can withstand high degrees of mechanical wear and tear, as shown by shock tests in the steute laboratory, for example. Tests in both our own laboratory and in independent institutes have also proven a high level of corrosion resistance, as well as a suitability for areas which are cleaned using high-pressure water jets and steam jets. With these features, the new series is suited to a wide variety of tasks in the field of automation – including and especially applications in unfavourable ambient conditions. A version for extreme applications without Ex protection standards is also available.
