Advantech’s New APAX Motion Master Module Expands the PAC Motion Product Line - APAX-5202P

Advantech launches its new APAX motion master module. The APAX-5202P leverages the benefits of the new APAX PAC series, as well as expanding its line to motion control applications. The APAX-5202P PCI interface card supports two independent AMONet RS-485 master rings with an easily-connected RJ-45 phone jack and a readable LED diagnostic display. One APAX-5202P module can support a maximum of 128 AMONet RS-485 slave modules, meaning that each ring can control up to 2,048 I/O points, 256 axes, or a combination of I/O points and axis for motion control.

The APAX-5202P directly transfers data between the host and its slaves without any operations in between. Using a daisy-chain network configuration, each ring supports a transfer rate of up to 20 Mbps over a maximum distance of 100 meters. The communication between master and slave is based on a customized RS-485 solution that saves wires, covers a long distance, supports high-speed communication and has time-deterministic features. The communication interface between master and PAC is accomplished by memory mapping.

APAX-5202P is fully compatible with the powerful APAX-5570 and APAX-5571 PAC controllers to provide an AMONet motion control solution in various motion control applications, such as LED, solar and LCD manufacturing process. Users can choose Advantech’s AMONet slave modules, AMAX-2240 series and AMAX-2750SY series. The former is a four axis AMONet motion slave module for Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and Yaskawa servo motors, the latter is 32-ch isolated digital input/output slave modules. To fulfill the needs of motion control, Advantech’s AMONet AMAX slave modules provide various functions and standard industrial DIN-rail mounting design makes it easy to distribute them in the field. The APAX-5202P master collects information from slave modules and publishes the information to its PAC controller.
