New Monitored Power Strips for Local and Remote Power Monitoring

API Technologies Corp.(NASDAQ:ATNY) (“API” or the “Company”), a provider of electronic systems, subsystems, RF, and secure systems for defense, aerospace, and commercial applications, is announcing that Spectrum Power’s product line of monitored rack mount power strips is available for ordering now, and they will begin shipping Spring 2012.

The new monitored power distribution units (PDU) provide both local and remote monitoring of voltage, current, and power factor. PDUs are employed in a variety of applications, including: data centers, communication systems, military and defense, and industrial infrastructure.

“The advantages of using a monitored PDU lie within its intelligent display and remote monitoring capabilities,” said Tracy Shaffer, Vice President, Spectrum Power product line of API Technologies. “The user can easily compare the measured value against the maximum limit of the PDU to determine whether additional equipment can be safely added. It also reduces the risk of an overload condition resulting in undesirable downtime.”

These new power strips feature at-the-rack monitoring with bright LED displays that are easily read up to 15 feet away. User-selectable local display modes include: continuous, auto cycling, or fixed reading. Remote monitoring can be done through USB connector or Ethernet port with Telnet, SNMP, or Web. The meter provides true-RMS voltage and current values.

Units are equipped with UL 489 listed circuit protection for added safety. Optional features include: EMI filtering, TVS (surge suppression), external temperature sensor, and more. They operate over a wide temperature range of -20° to 60°C, and provide maximum durability through rugged, long-life construction.
