MH Rhodes Announces Two PIR Occupancy Switch Products to In-Wall Line of MarkTime® Timers

M.H. Rhodes, a manufacturer of precision timers, motors, and measuring devices, announces the addition of two products to its MarkTime® "Wall Box Time Switch" line; Part 42ES5HD Passive Infrared Occupancy switch and Part 42E624 CA Title 24 Passive Infrared Occupancy switch.

Part 42ES5HD has Auto ON/Auto OFF feature with a full 180 degree by 10 foot sensor area. Ratings: 120V, ¼ HP, 60Hz, 800W, 800VA

Part 42E624 is a true CA Title 24 switch with Manual ON/Auto OFF and a full 150 degree by 10 foot sensor area. Ratings: 120V, ½ HP, 60Hz, 500W, 500VA

Both models provide energy efficiency settings from a minimum of 5 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes delay and fit into a standard electrical wall box to easily replace any toggle switch used for lighting control. Both models provide single “Push Button” manual override control and can be used with incandescent, CFL bulbs, and are UL/cUL fluorescent rated for commercial and residential applications.

Available in white or ivory, and packaged complete with switch, wall plate, mounting screws, wire connectors and user instructions.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
