Belden Combines Copper and Fiber Cable Management with the Hirschmann Modular Industrial Patch Panel

Belden Inc. (NYSE:BDC), a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, has added a modular industrial patch panel (MIPP) to its Belden and Hirschmann product series. The new MIPP is a termination panel for cables that need to be connected to active equipment such as switches, Industrial Ethernet devices and any other device with an Ethernet link. The MIPP offers greater system reliability and ease of installation and provides the ideal connection between Belden cables and Hirschmann switches. Its design is similar to the Hirschmann range of products.

Using patchcords to connect to active equipment, cables can be terminated outside the cabinet in an organized and structured manner to ensure the highest level of reliability. Installation is quick and easy, saving time and significantly reducing initial set-up costs. At the same time, the MIPP contributes to greater reliability with easier and more efficient system management that requires less maintenance. With a lightweight aluminum structure that increases its overall versatility, the MIPP easily mounts on a DIN Rail or on the sides of cabinets using a wall mount plate. The small housing, high port density and modularity keep cabinet space to a minimum.

The MIPP was designed for industrial use, where its functionality and reliability can make a significant contribution to the uptime and availability of systems. It is ideal for use in a wide range of industrial applications requiring maximum system reliability and flexibility. The industrial design makes it highly suited for use in machine building, transportation, alternative power generation, power transportation and distribution and oil and gas markets, as well as for general use in commercial buildings and other applications.

For the first time, MIPP’s unique modular design and compact dimensions allow up to six individual modules to be combined in any permutation to create a large single patch panel where fiber and copper cables can be connected at the same time. When required, each module is easily removed or replaced for maximum system flexibility.
