Matereality's DatabasePro Lets Engineers Build Their Own Material Databases
Matereality announces the availability of DatabasePro, with which engineers can immediately start organizing their material data collection on a private cloud and apply Matereality's acclaimed software to help them work with their data. DatabasePro is part of Matereality's 5.0 software release combining the power of Matereality's patented data storage platform with new engineer-focused software that enhances user understanding of material data and relieves the tedium of data manipulations for analytics or pre-processing for CAE.
Until now, engineers have been caught in the wait for a high budget PO for software purchase and IT approval towards a coordinated enterprise-wide plan for material database creation. Meanwhile, they make do with tools on their desktop that were never meant to deal with material data, let alone organize it. Today, for about $50/month, anyone can own a data collection built from pre-approved or certified sources. Data collections of individual users can be smoothly upgraded for workgroup collaboration with an eventual path toward organizing the material data of the enterprise.
The new DatabaseBuilderTM allows users to upload data from any source, whether a test instrument, an Excel sheet, or even an existing CAE material model file. Data can be drawn seamlessly from other certified data sources within Matereality's Global Data Center; users simply copy data into their own private collection where they can suitably tag it with BOM/Project IDs or modify it for their specific use. Data Loading Wizards guide user to error-free loading. In response to a 2010 CARHS Automotive CAE Grand Challenge, DatabaseBuilder even allows users to reverse engineer material data from pre-existing CAE material cards, enabling the data to be re-purposed for other CAE.
Matereality's DataViewerTM is exceptionally powerful for automated visualization and charting, allowing users to easily visualize material data of great complexity. With Analytics, trends and dependencies become immediately apparent. No more tedious Excel charting. There is instant unit conversion, curve data interrogation and even a one-click export to Excel. Share and Workgroup features allow for rich "you see what I see" collaboration for data and CAE models.
The CAEModelerTM is a pre-processor that draws out relevant data from a database and converts the raw data into CAE material parameter input files. Users can spend more of their time evaluating the data fit and refining it, than on basic input and data transformation. The CAEModelers are produced in cooperation with Matereality's partners, ANSYS, Autodesk, ESI, LS-DYNA, Moldex3D, SiemensPLM, SIMPOE, Simulia, Solidworks, with the material database integrated within many partner CAE products. Material models export seamlessly into partner software and most common material models are supported. Edits and updates of material models are easy, and can be saved along with raw data. CAEModelers are kept up to date and compatible with current and legacy CAE software versions.
With Release 5.0, Matereality now provides a complete support framework to assist engineers and enterprises with their material data needs. Individuals can buy access to the Global Data Center or collect their own material data with Personal Material DatabasePro. Design and development groups can upgrade to Workgroup Material DatabasePro, a collaborative private cloud where members access their own data as well as the group's data. All Workgroup-relevant data is controlled and always available, regardless of vacation or personnel changes.
"Engineers and product developers no longer need to use Excel to process and store material properties while they wait for their enterprises to make a material database decision. Constructing a material database is no longer a six-figure budget item. The process is straightforward and there is little maintenance required," says Renu Gandhi, VP, Matereality.
