Laser Triangulation in Top Form

The new laser sensors optoNCDT 2300 offer a measuring rate of almost 50kHz and therefore define the new upper performance class of laser triangulation. Particularly in application with fast moving parts, vibrations or challenging surfaces the sensor shows its benefits. The size of the sensor housing of only 80x75mm contains all the electronics. The measured value output is effected via Ethernet, RS422 or EtherCAT. A newly developed surface compensation called “Advanced Real-Time-Surface-Compensation” takes control in the case of changing surface reflective characteristics of the measuring object.

The complete sensor configuration is effected by an intuitive designed web-based user interface via an Ethernet connection. Besides the distance measurement in high precision, the sensor can be used for the thickness measurement of transparent objects. Here, configuration has to be changed to thickness measuring mode. The electronics evaluates the reflective values of the upper and lower surface and calculates a thickness value. For the time being the optoNCDT 2300 is available with five different measuring ranges. Additional sensors are being developed.

congatec Future-Proofs ETX and XTX Standard

Image
congatec AG, a leading manufacturer of embedded computer modules, is giving the ETX and XTX form factors a viable future with the integration of AMD Fusion technology. Modules based on AMD Fusion processors deliver significant improvements with regard to performance and scalability. Intel’s discontinuation of the 855 chipset family left a major gap in the market particularly for ETX computer modules, which primarily affected the higher performance range of applications. This gap has now been closed by processor manufacturer AMD with the Fusion architecture. Fusion also opens up new perspectives for a wide range of innovative and graphics-oriented applications.congatec has integrated the AMD Fusion architecture into its product range of ETX and XTX COM modules, opening up new scalability options for this form factor to meet even the most demanding tasks. The company supports the Fusion architecture with two new COM modules: conga-EAF and conga-XAF. While conga-EAF is an ETX module, co...

Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions Releases 36mm Linear Actuator Configuration that Replaces Existing 42mm Packages

Image
Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions, a premier manufacturer of linear motion products, has released a new version of its popular 36mm G4 linear actuator. This new configuration includes a special adapter plate that allows the smaller 36mm OD unit to replace 42mm and 46mm units in existing applications. Performance of the 36mm G4 linear actuator not only exceeds the performance of comparable size actuators, it approaches the performance of larger 42mm and 46mm linear actuators from various manufacturers. The 36mm unit with the integrated adapter plate allows users to replace existing 42 and 46mm units easily by using the same bolt pattern and pilot surface. Among the advantages of substituting the 36mm G4 linear actuator include a smaller linear actuator body, which is especially important when space is a premium, and a lower cost system, compared with the larger-size units. With the G4 linear actuator, both can be accomplished without sacrificing performance or lifespan. Force output rang...
